Terms and Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to workshops and services provided by Pottery by Candice.

By making a booking, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. About Pottery by Candice

Pottery by Candice is a UK-based pottery business offering pottery workshops, creative experiences and handmade pottery.

Business name: Pottery by Candice
Email: potterybycandice@gmail.com
Website: www.potterybycandice.co.uk

Where bookings are made through a third-party booking platform, such as ClassBento, additional terms and conditions from that platform may also apply.

2. Booking and payment

Places on workshops are subject to availability and are confirmed once payment has been successfully received.

Workshop prices are displayed at the time of booking and include the materials and equipment specifically stated in the workshop description.

Any additional charges, such as charges for additional pottery pieces, delivery or postage, will be clearly communicated before they are incurred.

Where a booking is made through ClassBento, payment and booking confirmation will be handled through the ClassBento booking system.

Please check your booking confirmation carefully and contact me as soon as possible if any of your booking details are incorrect.

3. Workshop suitability and age requirements

The minimum age for each workshop will be stated in the workshop description.

For workshops advertised as 11+, participants aged 11–15 must be accompanied by a responsible adult unless otherwise stated.

Where a workshop has specific physical, accessibility or other requirements, these will be communicated in the workshop description.

If you have accessibility requirements or need adjustments to enable you to participate, please contact me before booking where possible so that I can discuss what arrangements may be suitable.

4. Mobile workshop venue requirements

For mobile workshops, the host is responsible for providing a suitable venue.

The venue must:

  • Be accessible and ready for set-up at least 20 minutes before the scheduled workshop start time

  • Provide sufficient space for each participant to sit comfortably and work

  • Provide sufficient space for the teacher to demonstrate techniques

  • Have suitable flooring, preferably hard flooring or flooring that can be adequately protected

  • Be reasonably clean, safe and free from unnecessary hazards

  • Have suitable access to water where required for the workshop

Clay can be a messy material, and the host is responsible for ensuring that the venue is suitably prepared and that surfaces which could be damaged are adequately protected.

For workshops held in private homes, pets and young children should not enter the workshop area while the session is taking place.

5. Arrival and workshop start time

The teacher will arrive in good time and will be ready to begin the workshop at the scheduled start time.

The host must ensure that the venue is accessible and ready for set-up at least 20 minutes before the workshop begins.

If the venue is not ready when the teacher arrives, this may affect the time available for the workshop.

6. Cancellation by the customer

If you need to cancel or reschedule your booking, you may do so up to 3 days before the scheduled workshop date.

Cancellations or rescheduling requests made at least 3 days before the workshop will be eligible for a refund or transfer to another available date, in accordance with the booking platform's terms.

Bookings cancelled or rescheduled less than 3 days before the workshop are non-refundable and cannot normally be transferred to another date.

If you are unable to attend, you may contact me to discuss whether another person can attend in your place. This may be possible provided that the replacement participant meets any age or other requirements for the workshop.

If you have booked through ClassBento, any cancellation or rescheduling should normally be managed through your ClassBento booking.

7. Changes or cancellations by Pottery by Candice

I reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop where circumstances outside my reasonable control make it necessary to do so.

This may include, for example:

  • Serious illness

  • Unforeseen emergencies

  • Unsafe venue conditions

  • Equipment failure

  • Circumstances affecting the safe delivery of the workshop

Where I cancel a workshop, customers will be offered either:

  • A transfer to an alternative date; or

  • A full refund of the workshop booking.

I will communicate any cancellation or significant change as soon as reasonably possible.

8. Pottery, firing and finished pieces

For workshops where pottery is taken away for firing, every reasonable care will be taken during handling, transportation, glazing and firing.

However, ceramics are made from natural materials and the firing process can be unpredictable. Pieces may occasionally crack, warp or break during construction, transportation, glazing or firing. Colours may also vary from examples or photographs shown during the workshop.

Where a piece is damaged during transportation or as a direct result of the firing process, a £5 refund per affected piece will be offered.

If a piece is unsuitable for food use because of cracks or other issues resulting from its construction, it will not be eligible for a refund.

The workshop fee itself is non-refundable solely because a customer's pottery does not survive the making or firing process.

Where pottery is successfully completed, finished and ready for collection, customers will be notified.

Please allow up to four weeks for pottery to be completed.

9. Collection and delivery of pottery

Finished pottery can be collected from the specified collection location at no additional charge.

If you prefer that your pottery is delivered in the mail using tracked services, additional charges apply.

Where pottery is posted, every reasonable care will be taken to package it securely. However, ceramics are fragile and cannot be guaranteed against damage during postal transportation.

10. Additional pottery pieces

Where a workshop includes one finished piece, participants may be able to make additional pieces if time and materials allow.

Additional pieces are charged at £5 per piece, as stated in the workshop description.

Additional pieces are subject to the same firing, glazing and breakage conditions described in these Terms & Conditions.

11. Safety

Participants must follow reasonable safety instructions given by the teacher during the workshop.

Participants should inform the teacher before the workshop of any relevant requirements or circumstances that may affect their ability to participate safely.

Pottery involves materials, tools and equipment that may cause injury if used incorrectly. Instructions must therefore be followed at all times.

I reserve the right to ask a participant to stop using equipment or leave the workshop if their behaviour creates a significant risk to themselves or others.

12. Clothing and personal belongings

Pottery can be messy. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing and footwear that they do not mind getting dirty.

Pottery by Candice is not responsible for damage to clothing, footwear or personal belongings resulting from participation in a workshop, except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Photography and filming

Photographs and video may occasionally be taken during workshops for promotional purposes.

Where identifiable participants are to be used in promotional material, appropriate permission will be obtained.

If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes, please let me know.

14. Workshop content

Workshop content may occasionally vary from the description or photographs shown online where reasonably necessary, including due to availability of materials, equipment or other circumstances.

I will endeavour to ensure that workshops provide the experience and activities described when you make your booking.

15. Customer responsibilities

Customers are responsible for providing accurate information when making a booking and for informing me of any relevant requirements before attending.

Customers are also responsible for following reasonable instructions during the workshop and treating the venue, equipment and other participants with respect.

16. Liability

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

Subject to the above, Pottery by Candice will not be responsible for loss or damage that results from circumstances outside my reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Services supplied to consumers must be provided with reasonable care and skill.

17. Complaints

I want every customer to have a positive experience.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your booking or workshop, please contact me as soon as possible at [business email address] so that I can try to resolve the issue.

I will consider complaints fairly and aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.

18. Privacy

Personal information provided when making a booking or enquiry will be handled in accordance with my Privacy Policy.

Where bookings are made through ClassBento, ClassBento's own privacy policy and terms may also apply.

19. Changes to these Terms & Conditions

I may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to my services, booking arrangements or legal requirements.

The version applicable to your booking will be the version in effect when you make your booking.

The latest version will always be published on this website.

20. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that may apply.
